#300 La Salle Commemoration of the 300th Anniversary of the Death of the Founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (FSC)
In 2019, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the death of St. John Baptist de la Salle, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools will celebrate the event with the theme: La Salle 1719-2019. One Heart, One Commitment, One Life. For this reason, the Holy See has granted a Jubilee Year from November 17, 2018 to December 31, 2019.
Various celebrations are planned in each of the 80 countries in which the congregation is present in addition to two major events in France: the first in Reims, where the saint was born, and the second in Rouen , where he died. There will also be a major celebration at the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Rome. The program also includes a meeting of young Lasallians from around the world, in January 2019 in Panama, coinciding with the World Youth Day, and a large educational congress in Mexico City in April 2019.
To promote these important celebrations a song has been created (composed by Jorge Roig and Antoni Bosch, two Lasallian teachers from Paterna, in Spain) along with a video: One Heart, One Commitment, One Life which was presented in the Generalate on May 15 to coincide with the celebration of Founder’s Day.
