Marist Brothers – A global family has been born and is now strengthened
Last January, 140 young Marists from the four branches of the Society of Mary, coming from the five continents, gathered in Guatemala in the days leading up to World Youth Day to reflect and strengthen their commitment to the call to be Mary’s presence in the Church and in the world today. The evaluation of this gathering, called “Weaving Life”, was very positive and allowed the Superiors General of the Society to share their life, faith and mission, in a youthful environment full of joy and dynamism.
At the end of the gathering in Guatemala, the 80 young participants who were part of the branch of the Brothers decided to continue in communication and to continue on a path of mutual accompaniment in order to feel like a global family upon returning to their countries. Taking advantage of the resources of technology and through social networks, throughout this year they have shared their lives and apostolic work. Little by little these young Marists have woven a global Marist network feeling part of a family that loves them, welcomes them, cares for them and accompanies them, with affection and dedication.
Then, to celebrate the patroness feast day of the Marist Institute and also as a thanksgiving to all the young Marists of the world who help to spread the charism of Saint Marcellin on the five continents, the Secretariat for Education and Evangelisation of the Institute with the help of the Communications Department of the General Administration present this “global map” of young people and Marist presences where we can get to know them, share their work and pray for their lives and mission.
This group of young Marists continues its journey with the desire to continue strengthening its bonds of fraternity, as well as with the expectation of assuming a new project that the Institute will present to them in the coming months. For the Institute, the time has come to say to each one of the young people of the world: “Stand Up, Speak up and Act”. We are sure that the generosity and courage of the young people will help us to walk with faith and confidence towards the third bicentenary of the life of the Institute.
