OCEANIA/SOLOMON ISLANDS – The Guanellians: “Mission on the Ocean, combining evangelization and human promotion”

“We are islanders with the islanders”. Don Luigi de Giambattista, a Guanellian missionary, describes to Agenzia Fidesthe reality of his evangelical commitment in the Solomon Islands, in Oceania. Independent since 1978, the nation brings together a population of 650,000 inhabitants spread over 980 islands of which only 220 are inhabited. “Our mission began about two and a half years ago, in August 2016 – Don Luigi explains to Agenzia Fides – responding to an appeal of the diocese of Gizo”. OFM. The spirit of dialogue in Southern Philippines

The Custody of St. Anthony of Padua in the Philippines is one with the Church and the Order in celebrating the 8th centenary of the meeting of St. Francis and Sultan Al-Malik Al-Kamil. One of the highlights of the series of year-long activities is the interfaith forum held on April 2, 2019 in Tairan (Basilan) at San Roque Parish, a vibrant multi-ethnic and multi-religious community, administered by the Franciscans. VATICAN – CIAM hosts Formation course for English speaking PMS National directors

Following the French speaking National Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies (see Fides 3/4/2019), this week, the international Animazione Mission Centre (CIAM) hosts 33 members of the English speaking National Directors. PIME missionaries offer Samuel Programme to discover the vocation of youths

The Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) has developed a one-year, eight-part plan for personal and spiritual discernment called the Samuel Programme, which is aimed at Bangladeshi youth.

Created in 2007, the programme is the brainchild of Fr Franco Cagnasso. Sister Annamaria Panza, of the Missionaries of the Immaculate Conception [MDL), a female congregation inspired by PIME, currently runs it. Continue reading
